An interactive app that can be individualized based on location and children’s interests, while gamifying the experiences to motivate families to get more out of what their communities have to offer.
Out n’ About is a family activities app that primarily suggests activities geared towards your child’s interests and reviews. This app was researched and developed in just 3 weeks with my partner Brooke Williams, we were classmates in the Ohio State University U/UX Boot Camp course.

STEP 1
Research
Young parents need help finding local and interesting activities to bond and enrich their child.
Our research was conducted through interviewing parents with younger children, primarily 2-8 years old. We collaborated and settled on three key points to give the best understanding of how parents entertain their children; what does their typical enrichment time look like, what do parents look for in activities and if they are social with other parents/families they see also participating in the activities.
In these interviews, we concluded our third point of research was deflected. Parents do not seek out socializing in these circumstances; they simply want to see their child have fun.
(33 years old)
A father of 2 children, one boy of 4 and a girl of 6. He and his wife Kelly spend a lot of time with their children outdoors but can’t always surprise their kids with new adventures. So they turn to friends hoping to find something new for their family to do together. It can be difficult with each of them having such contrasting interests.
Marcus and Kelly want to be able to access first-hand accounts on local activities in their area to both satisfy and enrich their children without having to risk spending too much money or time on the small things. In all to relieve stress and enjoy new places!
Create an engaging platform for parents and families alike to find enriching outdoor activities for the whole family to enjoy.
